Flat Roof Refurbishment – Redhill, Surrey
The existing single ply flat roof covering to this 260m2 modular building had come to the end of its serviceable life and a new long-term solution was required.
The roof covering was stripped down to the structural decking and a new system installed comprising polythene vapour control layer, mechanically fixed rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation boards and Protan SE 1.2mm thick polyester reinforced PVC single ply membrane in Dark Grey. The new membrane being secured using high performance carbon steel fasteners with plastic tubes.
The membrane roll laps are welded and sealed together using specialist hot air equipment by Protan trained operatives.
The perimeter edge detail was finished using new purpose made Protan PVC laminated galvanised steel flashings complete with membrane cover strips hot air welded using specialist hot air equipment.
Flat Roof Refurbishment – Reading, Berkshire
The flat roof to this school’s teaching block was a constant source of problems. Numerous repairs using a variety of materials had been carried out to the ageing asphalt surface, and now a long-term solution was required.
The roof covering was prepared and a new fully adhered overlay system installed comprising rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation boards to meet Building Regulations (Part L2B) and Protan polyester reinforced PVC single ply membrane in Dark Grey.
All laps and junctions are welded together on site using specialist hot air equipment.
The perimeter edge detail was finished using new purpose made Protan PVC laminated galvanised steel flashings complete with membrane cover strips.
Additional works included replacement of the ageing and fragile dome rooflights with new non-fragile triple skin polycarbonate units.
