Alton Refurbishment Project

RoofTech have recently been awarded a contract to refurbish three industrial units in Alton, Hampshire totalling approximately 2,950m2.

The works consist of the following:

  • Carefully stripping the existing roof coverings of fragile single skin asbestos cement sheeting, glass fibre reinforced polyester (GRP) rooflights and associated plasterboard overpurlin lining system all in accordance with stringent HSE Guidlines and NFRC Technical Notes.
  • Supplying and installing a new insulated built-up roofing system comprising 0.7mm thick White liner panel, lightweight galvanised steel spacer bar system, glassfibre quilt insulation to meet current Building Regulations and 0.7mm thick Plastisol (Leathergrain) coated steel outer skin.
  • Incorporated in the new roof will be triple skin GRP translucent sheeting of matching profile with 25 years non-fragility and Class 3 SAB outer over Class 1 SAA inner to approximately 10% of the roof area.
  • RoofTech will be completing the weathering by replacing the eaves gutters with new galvanised steel guttering and installing purpose made flashings and filler blocks rendering all apexes watertight.
